Auto Accidents Happen. What Most People Don’t Know? Insurance-Covered Massage Can Happen Too. If you’ve been in an auto accident, chances are your doctor sent you to physical therapy. Maybe handed you a prescription.
What they likely didn’t tell you is that your auto insurance very often covers massage therapy too, and that massage may actually be the most important place to start.
I specialize in neuromuscular massage for auto accident recovery, and I handle the entire insurance process on your behalf. That means communicating directly with your claims adjuster, managing the paperwork, and making sure everything is documented correctly so there are no surprises. Most of my clients pay nothing out of pocket for their covered sessions.
I also don’t work in isolation. If you’re seeing a physical therapist or chiropractor, I work alongside what they’re doing. I can even share what I’m finding in your muscles, so your whole care team has a clearer picture of what your body needs. Recovery moves faster when everyone is working from the same map.
It’s simpler than it sounds. Here’s exactly what you need to do:
Step 1: Verify your coverage
Call your auto insurance company and confirm that massage therapy is covered under your medical liability coverage. Most policies in Pennsylvania include this, but it’s worth confirming before we get started.
Step 2: Get a prescription from your doctor
Ask your primary care doctor for a prescription for massage therapy. This is separate from any physical therapy prescription they may have already given you, and you are absolutely entitled to request both. The prescription needs to include the areas of the body experiencing pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, or spasms, the frequency and duration of recommended sessions, and the applicable CPT codes. Your doctor will know what those are.
Step 3: Share the details with me
Once you have your prescription, reach out and provide me with the name and phone number of your auto insurance claims adjuster, your policy number and claim number, and a copy of your doctor’s prescription. From there, I take over. I’ll get your permission to contact the adjuster directly, confirm your coverage, and handle sending the bills to the insurance company with the goal of getting your sessions covered at no cost to you.
One important note: Insurance approval does need to be confirmed before we can schedule your first covered session. I’ll keep you informed every step of the way so there’s no guesswork on your end.
You’ve been through enough. Let me handle this part.
